Biography

Dr Soh Gim Song is an Assistant Professor in the Engineering Product Development Pillar since 2011.  His expertise lies in the geometric synthesis of under-actuated articulated system design.  He had taught courses in the field of machine theory, computer aided design and manufacturing as well as engineering design processes.  He obtained his MSc and PhD degree from University of California, Irvine (UCI), where he researched and developed innovative computer aided design software for the invention of articulated mechanical system.  He had also guided students in numerous design competition projects like the Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, Formula Baja, and Extreme Gravity Racing at UCI.  Currently, he is guiding E-Garage, a motor engineering/electric vehicle group in SUTD.  Previously, he served as an Associate Research Scientist for Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), an Executive at E.M. Chen and Associates, Inc. in Guam and both a Research Specialist and Lecturer in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCI.
