About the speaker

As a Senior Engineering Manager in Dyson, Ying is a highly qualified design engineer and power electronics expert with over 15 years of experience in leading and developing multiple-cultural cross-functional teams in delivering innovative solutions for both industrial and consumer products.

Originally from Shanghai, China, Ying graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2007 with a MSc in Signal Processing and Communications. She started her career as an Electronics Engineer in Southwest of England before becoming more specialised in power electronics, designing drive systems for ultrasonic transducers.

Ying joined Dyson UK in Sep 2012 as one of the few power electronics engineers back then. She designed the electronics for Dyson Airwrap and has also been heavily involved in most Dyson categories that use the Dyson Hyperdymium motors or Li-on battery packs including the Dyson Supersonic, cordless vacuums V6, V8, V11 and V12, robotic vacuum cleaner 360 Eye and the early stage of Dyson Zone.

With the passion to further explore mechanical engineering and product design, Ying landed in Dyson Singapore in Feb 2020 and started as a Senior Engineering Manager in Hair Care. She has been leading a team of 20 design engineers of all levels and is responsible for developing and delivering mechanical and electrical integrated solutions for next generation Dyson hair care products. The latest addition to her achievement includes the newly launched Dyson Airstrait with many more to come!
