Biography

Joseph Fitzsimons is a theoretical physicist with interests in all areas of quantum mechanics and quantum information theory. He holds a BSc in theoretical physics from University College Dublin, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford, where his doctoral research focused on quantum computer architectures. Prior to joining SUTD, Dr. Fitzsimons was a senior research fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, Singapore’s first Research Centre for Excellence. Between 2007 and 2010, he was a fellow of Merton College, serving on the college’s governing body, and a senior research fellow Oxford’s Department of Materials.

Dr. Fitzsimons currently holds a joint appointment at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, and is a National Research Foundation Fellow.
