Biography

Dr. Chen Zaichun received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Xiamen University in 2008. He was an undergraduate exchange student in the University of Hong Kong from September to December, 2007 financed by Li & Fung Group, Hong Kong. After that he continued his study in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore and obtained his PhD degree in 2012. His research interest includes advanced optics design, fabrication, and characterization.

Before joining SUTD, Zaichun worked at Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R), A*STAR as a scientist on the design of optical devices in terahertz frequency band. His expertise lies in the fields of terahertz devices design, metamaterials, and laser micro/nano fabrication. His research results have attracted wide media coverage including BBC, Strait Times, and New York Times, etc.
